Since its founding in 1989, Slam Jam has dedicated itself to what it calls the global underground.
The brand has for years been the spokesperson for the expression of subcultures, communicating it through a rebellious attitude and multidimensional innovations. For the latest collaboration with Nike, Slam Jam chose to work on Dunk. Long associated with street and underground culture, the model proved to be perfectly in line with the Slam Jam philosophy. “Dunk has undoubtedly had a very strong impact, becoming one of those elements that have contributed, in the context of global connections, to shape and develop what is now called street culture”, says Luca Benini, owner of Slam Jam. For this design, the subversive tone of the inverted Swoosh on the tongue is reinforced by the transparent and rubbery Swooshes touching the heel, resulting in a unique design.
Semi-sheer soles blend naturally with the look of the material, while a playful reinterpretation of Dunk’s signature perforated details adds a touch of understated novelty. “This Dunk expresses the values of simplicity and attention to innovative details which, together with our rebellious spirit, define the DNA of Slam Jam”, concludes Benini.
